Miele Club terms of participation and use

General terms and conditions for using the Miele Club

1. Scope, purpose of the Miele Club

These Miele Club terms of participation and use apply between the Miele subsidiary that is concluding the contract and the Miele Club member in the relevant country. The Fairacres, Marcham Road, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, OX14 1TW).

The Miele Club is a customer loyalty programme in which the member expresses a particular interest in the manufacturer Miele and its products and services, and which represents a special link between the member and the Miele contractual partner. In return for establishing this closer link with Miele, the member receives special perks and benefits and communication (detailed in clause 3.4).

2. Processing of personal data, Club communication

Specific details on processing personal data of Club members are outlined in depth in the data privacy notice for the Miele Club.

Specific Club communication is an integral part of the contract (see also 3.4 below). This consists of:

  • - Messages about special Miele Club promotional discounts
  • - A welcome message containing a welcome gift
  • - Messages about status changes (if you have achieved a higher status by registering additional
      appliances, for example)
  • - A birthday message (if the member has provided their date of birth)

Promotional discounts, welcome gifts, status discounts and birthday vouchers can only be redeemed in the Miele online shop, the in-app shop or Miele’s own Miele Experience Centres (MECs).

Personalised Club communication, which is the core element of the Miele Club, is to be viewed separately from this. This communication is initiated when consent is granted separately to personalised advertising communication. Furthermore, it can be ended independently of Club participation by revoking this consent and then resumed later by granting consent again. In this context, Miele works with purchasing history analyses, clicks in digital communication, subsequent user behaviour on Miele websites and a customer value model based on user behaviour. Details of personalised Club communication are provided in the Miele Club data privacy notice. This enables Miele to strengthen customer loyalty, provide the individual Club member with more significant benefits and, at the same time, align its own range more effectively with the needs of customers.

Club communication is generally sent in digital format (via e-mail), but may also be sent by post.

3. Programme participation

3.1 Persons eligible to participate

Persons eligible to participate must be natural persons who have reached 18 years of age and are resident in a country in which Miele Club membership is available.

The customer is obligated (i) to provide correct and truthful details about their person when registering on the Miele website (www.miele.co.uk) and (ii), in the event of changes, to correct the details in their customer account without delay if these details are essential for performing the Miele Club contract. Mandatory details are identified as such on the customer registration page or in the customer account.

The participant’s residence is the actual place in which they live for most of the time (their primary residence, e.g. their main house or flat). Details of the person and their residence must be provided correctly and truthfully; it must be possible to provide an operator with evidence of them if requested.

3.2 Start of participation

Participation in the Miele Club starts when a customer registers and accepts these terms of participation and use. The customer must have a Miele online shop account in order to participate. These terms and conditions are cumulative applicable to any other Miele terms and conditions.

If someone submitting their registration to join already has a Miele account and is a Miele Club member, they are not permitted to open another personal account associated with the same e-mail address; that is, only one account may be opened and managed per natural person and e-mail address.

It is not possible for a customer to register with the same (e-mail) address in multiple countries. Appliances can only be registered in the country in which they were purchased. With this in mind, customers with different residences and households can distribute appliance registrations across different accounts/e-mail addresses.

If a customer has multiple memberships within the same country, Miele reserves the right to remove duplicates. In this case, all the information provided in the various accounts will be merged into a single membership.

3.3 Miele Club status

The status of a Club member is based on the number of valid appliance serial numbers registered in the member’s online account. Registrations can be carried out by manually entering serial numbers in the online account, by means of a Miele technician entering them if requested during a customer service call, or automatically by means of networking smart appliances with the Miele app.

The following status levels are available:

  • Club member: Club registration without any appliances registered
  • Gold member: Club registration and up to 2 appliances registered
  • Platinum member: 3 or more appliances registered

Once the required number of appliances have been registered, the status changes immediately (i.e. no later than the next day).

Each status is associated with a range of benefits. More information on qualification criteria and the associated benefits is provided in the Miele Club communication media (see the Miele homepage in the country in question; https://www.miele.co.uk/e/miele-club ).

The Club status and appliance registrations cannot be transferred to other parties/members (such as other members of the same household).

Only appliances that are used in the household are eligible for achieving statuses.

The status can be viewed in the customer’s personal online account or requested directly from Miele (via the hotline).

An appliance serial number can only be assigned to one Club account at a time.

3.4 Perks and benefits

As a Club member, you will receive messages about special promotional discounts and, if you have consented to personalised Club communication, regular information about products, events and promotions.

Additionally, you will receive:

Welcome gift: members receive a welcome gift to thank them for registering.

Status bonus: when you achieve a higher status, you will receive a bonus in the form of a voucher. You will also get the benefits associated with the new status.

Birthday surprise: members receive a small surprise on their birthday if they have told Miele their date of birth. This usually takes the form of a voucher.

Promotional discounts, welcome gifts, status discounts and birthday vouchers can only be redeemed in the Miele online shop, the in-app shop or Miele’s own Miele Experience Centres (MECs).

They can be sent via e-mail, by post or via the Miele apps.

Miele Club benefits and offers that are communicated cannot be transferred to other persons or accounts.

The Club status that is achieved and the benefits associated with it can only be applied/redeemed in the country in which the customer is registered.

3.5 Ending Miele Club membership

The customer can end their Miele Club membership at any time by opting out in the personal details in their online account, or by getting in touch with the Miele Contact Center or sending an e-mail or letter to the aforementioned Miele company.

Miele may terminate the membership at any time with three months’ notice, without specifying a reason. This does not affect the right to termination without notice for good cause. Any termination must be carried out in writing or via e-mail.

4. Changes to the terms of participation and use

Miele reserves the right to change the terms of participation and use if doing so is reasonable for customers and Club members. This applies in particular if and to the extent that legal provisions require changes or making changes is in the interests of easier or more secure processing (especially as a way of preventing misuse).

Miele shall notify customers and Club members of changes to the terms of participation and use in writing or text format using the last known postal address or by sending an e-mail. Changes shall be considered to have been approved if you do not terminate your membership in writing or via e-mail or delete your customer account within two months of receiving the notification. Implicit consent does not apply in the case of changes that result in the overall structure of the contract being modified or a considerable shift in balance.

Additionally, changes to the data processing covered by the consent themselves require active consent. Miele will notify you of this separately.
